Definitely in the Top 5 most anticipated video games of the year, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is at the center of numerous speculations, as neither Sony nor the developer Insomniac Games have announced an official release date yet.
To break the silence today, albeit without any official confirmation, is Tony Todd, who plays Venom in the video game. Todd posted a tweet, immediately deleted, in which he reported that the game would be released in September (via NME).
Hours after the original tweet, which was deleted, Todd made another post in which he writes: “No more mentions of #Spiderman2, it was all a fever dream, because of the jet lag.” In short, an immediate denial, which therefore casts even more shadows on the release of the game.
At the moment the only certainties are that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will arrive on an unspecified autumn date and will be esclusiva PlayStation 5. Meanwhile, players are increasingly impatient and the latest official communications date back to October last year, when Insomniac wrote: “We are making good progress and the release is scheduled for 2023”.
The game will see Peter Parker e Miles Morales (already star of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales of 2020) together again to fight the mighty Venom. Last year Bill Rosemann, Marvel’s creative vice president, told the This Week In Marvel podcast that the new video game will be a sequel “darker”. Roseman had compared the game to The Empire Strikes Back from the Star Wars franchise.
