Despite the news of theMicrosoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, there is still a lot of confusion regarding the publisher’s video games and whether or not they will become exclusives Xbox: the situation is so uncertain that even Sony has issued a statement in the past few hours, inviting the Redmond giant to comply with contractual obligations and to guarantee multi-platform output.

Activision videogames: Sony intervenes

Although it was not mentioned directly, it is very likely that the Sony spokesperson who published this statement was referring to the franchise. Call of Duty, since the franchise has been the subject of several marketing agreements with the Japanese company. Here is what was said by the spokesman, who explained that Sony expects that: “Microsoft will respect contractual obligations and continue to ensure a cross-platform release for Activision video games”.

At the moment it is unclear what the future of the franchise of Call of Duty, but it should be noted that in 2021 Vanguard was the best-selling game on PlayStation in the United States. Consequently, it is physiological that Sony is starting to raise its ears, probably because it sees one of its biggest sources of income in the current gaming market at risk.

In this regard, Microsoft has already confirmed that Activision games will continue to release on competing platforms as well, but some of these will remain Xbox exclusives, as expected. It is not clear at the moment which titles are referring to, but according to various industry experts the Call of Duty of the main series could become exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem.

Anyway, at the moment it is still rather early to wrap our heads, given that the acquisition of the publisher it will only be completed in 2023 and the specifics of which games will arrive where they will probably wait a few more months.
