Amazon prepares to say goodbye to Alexa Internet. The service has been active since 1996 and provides data relating to theweb traffic analysis. Amazon bought the analytics service in 1999 and now, after more than 20 years of use, is preparing to shut it down. The end date of the service is set for 1 May 2022 but registrations have already been closed for a few days.
Alexa Internet, Amazon’s web traffic analysis service, will close next May. The announcement came with a official blog post in which the suspension of registrations to the service by users is also confirmed. All users who used the service will be able to find additional details relating to the subscription and the possibility of exporting data directly on the official portal.
Alexa Internet is also and especially known for the sranking service of the most popular websites which is often used as a reference by international media and Wikipedia pages. The data provided by the service is obtained from the data shared by users who choose to install a specific extension and from those provided by the websites that use the monitoring software. From next year, therefore, the Alexa Rank service will also close its doors.
