Google plans to bring Android games to Windows PCs during the next year. In fact, an app will be made available Google Play Games, obviously created by the company, which will allow you to run Google Play games on laptops, tablets and Windows PCs.

Google is about to bring Android games to Windows

“Starting in 2022, gamers will be able to try their favorite Google Play games on multiple devices: seamlessly switching between phones; a tablet, a Chromebook and, soon, a Windows PC. ” he said in a statement to The Verge Greg Hartrell, Google’s product director for games on Android and Google Play.

Google therefore wants allow users to play their favorite games on Google Play on laptops and desktops as well powered by the Windows operating system, to expand the gaming experience. The upcoming app – created by Google itself without partnering with Microsoft, BlueStacks or any other company – It will also allow gamers to resume games on a desktop PC, after playing them on a phone, tablet or Chromebook.

Google showed a preview of this app during The Game Awards, with a promised release window for next year. It is not yet clear what technology Google will use to emulate Android apps on Windows, but the games will run locally and not streamed from the cloud.

“This will be a native Windows app distributed by Google, which will support Windows 10 and above,” he explains Hartrell. “It will not involve streaming of the game.” Google’s app will not rely on any special integration with Windows 11, and the company will also distribute the app itself.

Google’s announcement comes months after Microsoft began testing Android apps on Windows 11 PCs. Microsoft created a Windows subsystem for Android, which is capable of running Android apps from a variety of sources. The software giant, for example, has partnered with Amazon to allow Windows users to natively install games and apps from the Amazon Appstore. Native Google Play support will not officially be available through Microsoft’s feature.

The company, which was born to virtualize mobile devices on desktop and laptop PCs, is now making it Android games available on web browsers. BlueStacks X it’s a free way to play Android games in your browser, so without having to install any software.
