Apple is considering cutting the production of iPhone and of AirPods, due to the current crisis in Ukraine and inflation, both of which are severely limiting the demand for new devices. The company of the bitten apple is evaluating a decrease of 20%, at least according to reports from the financial portal Nikkei.
A 20% cut in iPhone production equates to approx 3 million units produced in less compared to apple production standards. A net reduction, which gives the measure of how much the company is currently in difficulty due to the crisis in Ukraine. The same fate was reserved for the AirPods, which will be reduced to 10 million units.
This new production capacity will remain in place for probably the whole of 2022, and will probably also affect the range of iPhone 13, this time, however, due to a physiological decline in demand, which is now focusing on the most recent models of the smartphone released just last September. In short, a seasonal adjustment.
Meanwhile, the crisis in Ukraine it shows no sign of diminishing in intensity and more and more companies in the world of technology are trying to boycott Russia in some way, some by totally interrupting sales in the nation, some by banning all types of devices linked to their own brand. Whether these sanctions take effect, we’ll find out in the coming weeks.
