Apple launches Power for Impact: the program to produce clean energy

Apple has announced a new series of renewable energy projects through the program Power For Impact on the occasion of COP26, which will take place shortly. The company will operate in different parts of the world supported by professional partners in the sector, let’s see in detail what the company of the bitten apple has in mind.

Apple launches the Power For Impact program for renewable energy

In South Africa, Apple is helping to provide renewable energy to more than 3,500 households that previously did not have access to it while, in Nigeria, it will support the development of a system that will provide electricity to a medical center and 200 families in the surrounding region.

In the Philippines, Apple will help fund an educational institution that offers scholarships to deserving but disadvantaged students, offsetting electricity costs by installing photovoltaic panels on the roof. In Thailand, the giant is already participating in an initiative aimed at increasing renewable energy production and energy storage, as well as in Vietnam, for solar electricity to 20 schools across the country.

In Colombia, Apple is helping put into service a photovoltaic system on the roof of the Santa Ana hospital; in Israel, the Nitzana Educational Eco-Village for young people at risk will benefit from photovoltaic panels to reduce electricity costs and generate a new source of income for the organization.

With the goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2030, Apple will generate more than 9 gigawatts of clean energy worldwide, thanks to the switch of its other suppliers to renewable sources. Overall, Apple has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 40% over the past five years, a very good result considering the size of the company and its annual production volume.

The hope is that this data can improve further over the years.
