Apple: M2 chip coming to a new MacBook Air?

Apple is working on the successor of the chip M1which should be called M2and several rumors have already suggested that these chips will be used in a new updated MacBook Air and a new version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro. Let’s take a look at everything we know about the subject so far, bearing in mind that it is rumor and therefore to be taken with a grain of salt.

Apple: MacBook Air with M2 Chip coming?

A new report today from 9to5Mac once again reiterates these rumors: the site in fact claims that Apple will introduce a ‌MacBook Air‌ and a 13-inch MacBook Pro with ‌M2‌ chip by the end of the year. In particular, analysts of the portal are convinced that the recent prediction of the Apple insider Ming Chi Kuothat the next generation ‌MacBook Air‌ will use the M1‌ or an updated version, is incorrect.

Here is what the site reads: “While analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the new MacBook Air will have an updated M1 chip, our sources have told us that the machine is being developed with the new M2 chip. Codenamed J413, the next generation MacBook Air should be released in a single version with M2 ”.

We’ve already heard about the next generation versions of the MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro from very reliable sources, just think of Mark Gurman Bloomberg, who confirmed that the new MacBook Air will come with a complete redesign. Gurman also provided details on the ‌M2‌ chip, which is expected to have the same 8-core CPU as the M1‌, but with 9- and 10-core GPU options.

Despite all this, we don’t have an official launch date yet, but it is likely that devices with the ‌M2‌ chip will be released in the last months of the year.
