Apple-TSMC: Towards greater autonomy from China?

Thanks to TSMC, Apple is trying to detach itself more and more from production in China, in favor of the USA, we are talking about 2024 as a target. The details

Apple would seem to have set a date to acquire greater independence from the Rising Sun supply chainfor all of their internal Chip productions, Bloomberg colleagues report, and this date is set at 2024, the leverage would be the new plant present in Arizona at TSMCwhich should ensure a greater supply to Apple on a regular basis.

Tim Cook’s wish, expressed to some employees, is to focus more on Europe and the United States.

Apple-TSMC: towards greater autonomy from China?

Apple’s idea will therefore be to increasingly concentrate production in European plants, and this will definitely change the geopolitical structure that revolves around the Cupertino giant. These were the words uttered by Tim Cook during a conference in Germany;

We’ve already made the big decision to buy a plant in Arizona that’s set to go live in 2024, so we’ve got about two years ahead of us on that front, maybe a little less. And as far as Europe is concerned, I’m sure we will also source from there as these plans become more concrete.

Apple is facing an important step, and this can be seen from the difficult choice to make. In fact, there are about two options that can be used, the first would concern precisely TSMC, which is already Apple’s faithful and unique partner on the Chip side, which is about to open a plant in Arizona, the second would be Intel, the two factories Fab 52 and Fab 62 could appeal to Apple but it is only speculation. Also because Apple should thus be able to adapt to Intel production, also in terms of patents, to produce its products. Much more plausible that he will remain with TSMC, taking advantage of the greater autonomy that he will obtain by moving the production chains.

In the meantime, the request is being welcomed in Europeand also in the USA, in fact the CHIPS Acta total of tens of billions of incentives, precisely to facilitate local construction, untying itself from the Asian territory. We recall that today 60% of world processor production is linked to Taiwan, and Tim Cook says it himself. We’ll see if the potential production capacity of the future plant in Arizona will satisfy Apple’s requests in terms of Wafer production.

Where Apple, on the other hand, has paid more attention as an investment is Germany, a large engineering hub on German territory received 1 billion euros from Apple. If you want to keep learning about the latest news from the hardware world, keep following us. Greetings from TechGameWorld.com.
