Bethesda: the release of Fallout 5, The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield among the themes of an interview

Todd Howard in an interview talks about the reasons that led Bethesda to prioritize the release of Starfield, rather than Elder Scrolls VI or Fallout 5

In a few days the new edition of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition will celebrate the ten years of the fifth chapter. While a portion of Bethesda remains in support of The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76, most of the teams are now working on the company’s next titles. Also reinforced by the acquisition made by Microsoft, Bethesda seems to bet everything on its future games, and during an interview by Todd Howard with IGN, some crucial revelations emerged about what prompted the director to decide which title to give priority to release: Starfield, Elder Scrolls VI or Fallout 5.

Before the release of Elder Scrolls VI, Fallout 5 or Starfield?

In the interview, Todd Howard admits the long period of separation between Skyrim and a sequel is not considered a positive thing, nor to be replicated with Fallout 5, but other projects like Fallout 76 took precedence, and Howard believes that if they had prioritized TES 6 they could not have created something really new come Starfield.

With development on Fallout 4 completed in 2015, the studio felt it was the right time to explore new horizons. The idea behind Starfield had to be grasped, as while The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 at that time could have been delayed, Bethesda he couldn’t afford to delay the release of a new project just when he had the opportunity to make it happen.

While both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI were announced during E3 2018, it was pretty clear that the title that Bethesda would focus on most would be the former: this meant a long wait for the sixth. episode, and a big question mark about Fallout 5.

However, this has not ruled out rumors about TES: VI, such as the use of a new graphics engine, and Todd Howard hints at a greater focus that will be placed on a ‘interactivity between NPCs and players. The director says he wants to make sure he’s doing things right even if it will take longer, hoping to see The Elder Scrolls VI as a title that can bring the series. on higher peaks once it’s out. Todd Howard could only confirm future plans for Fallout 5 as well, stating the Bethesda devotion al singleplayer.
