Blender version 3.0: beta available via AMD GPU

Next December, Blender will release the version 3.0 of its 3D creation suite. To allow users to start testing this powerful software solution before launch today AMD has released a beta driver with support for the beta version of Blender 3.0 on the latest AMD GPUs.

Blender is partnering with AMD for version 3.0

AMD has partnered with Blender to enhance support for GPU rendering in Blender using open-source AMD HIP (Heterogeneous-computing Interface for Portability) C ++ Runtime API and the kernel language, which allows users to take full advantage of all the enhancements of the rendering system Blender Cycles X on AMD GPUs.

Designed to allow developers to build mobile applications for AMD and NVIDIA GPUs from a single source code, HIP allows developers to Cycles to create a single set of render kernels and run them on multiple devices. It also offers easy migration from existing CUDA code. AMD has partnered with Blender to add support for HIP devices in Blender 3.0.

This announcement builds on the continued collaboration of AMD and Blender, which supports the Blender Development Fund and helps develop Blender to improve workflows and user experiences. If you are interested in trying the beta version, just go to the official AMD website and download the necessary drivers.

To be able to try it, however, you will need one quite powerful graphics card. The ones currently supported are:
