Bosch announced the launch of a new Electric Drive module dedicated to light commercial vehicles. The module in question, compact in size, integrates sboth the electric motor and the inverter with a total weight of about 80 kilograms and electrical losses reduced by more than 20% thanks to the use of new power semiconductors capable of pushing the efficiency of the inverter up to 97%.
The new Bosch system will debut with Daimler Truck. The unit will have one maximum power of 129 kW and a continuous power of 100 kW. The permanent magnet synchronous machine is able to guarantee one peak torque of 430 Nm.
The system developed by Bosch for light commercial vehicles ensure superior driving performance. 8.5-tonne vehicles will have no difficulty recording excellent driving performance, even in hilly cities like Tokyo, Rome or San Francisco.
Markus Heyn, member of the Bosch Board of Management and Chairman of the Mobility Solutions business area, says: “Bosch is also promoting electric mobility in commercial vehicles. Compared to the previous ones, the new solution provides a higher power and torque density and is even lighter and more compact ”
