Cannes Film Festival 2023: the list of all the winners!

The annual celebration of the Cannes Film Festival concluded last night with the grand awards ceremony. Films of a very high caliber followed one another on stage and, in addition to the winners that we will see in the next paragraph, many Asian projects were also presented, all of which were greatly appreciated during this edition. No recognition for Italy, however, which was represented by three great directors such as Marco Bellocchio, Nanni Moretti and Alice Rohrwacher and which were in any case greatly appreciated on the stage of Cannes 2023. But let’s get to the point: the awards!

All the winners at the Cannes Grand Film Festival 2023: who got the Palme d’Or?

The Palme d’Or went pink this year and was won by Justine Triet with Anatomie d’une chute, a dramatically intimate film centered on the disappearance of a householder on a mountain, a thriller that we highly recommend. The award for best film, presented by none other than Quentin Tarantino, was instead won by The Zone of Interest, a drama that tells the horrors of the concentration camps from a completely different perspective than in the past: that of a German family living near the Auschwitz camp.

• Palm tree: Anatomy of a Fall by Justine Triet
• Golden Room: Thien An Pham Golden Butterfly Tree
• Best actress: Merve Dizdar (Dried Herbs Ustune di Nuri Bilge Ceylan)
• Best Screenplay: Yuji Sakamoto (Monster di Kore-Eda Hirokazu)
• Best Actor: Koji Yakusho (Perfect Days of the Wim Wenders)
• Jury Prize: Dead Leaves (Le foglie morte) di Aki Kaurismaki
• Best direction: Tran Anh Hung (The passion of Dodin Bouffant)
• Grand Prize: The Zone of Interest di Jonathan Glazer
