Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5 review: here is the new Gen

Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5 review. The new Gen is among us, and Corsair is not missing the appeal, here are the new Dominators!

Dominator Platinum RGB becomes DDR5, we have talked to you about the new standard on several occasions, we recommend that you read our articles to discover everything behind the new standard, and above all its architecture.

Today we will instead focus on what Corsair has done with this update. The new Intel standard for profile management also lands in this generation, it is called Intel XMP 3.0.

Review Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5

The new Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB do not differ much in terms of design from previous generations, obviously as you can imagine they are equipped with the classic lighting system of the brand. But qualitatively updated. We find in these RAMs 12 Led CAPELLIX Addressable high performance, finally, it integrates an aluminum heatsink.

Available in different cuts, or 32 e 64GB. Two, also the different speeds that the DDR5 promise, 4800 e 5200 MHz. And with the relative timing 34-35-35-69 e, 38-38-38-84. One of the advantages of the new generation lies in its low consumption, in fact we have voltages ranging from 1.1V e 1.25V.

The new version of iCUE will allow you to save and customize XMP 3.0 profiles. Unfortunately, we do not know what type of Chip ID has chosen Corsair for these RAMs, and not even the controller the company claims only to have chosen top quality components, for this reason we cannot carry out a deep analysis on the structure.

However, we tested the RAM in daily use, and it did not give us any performance problems of any kind, we found bottlenecks. Perhaps software limit, perhaps due to the need for new updates, many diagnostic and test software do not read or take full advantage of the power of the new Gen, so we limited ourselves to 2 tests.

Our configuration:

The test of SiSoftware Sandra in the section suitable for yielding i flussi Single Thread, highlights not only aspects aimed purely at the CPU, but also at the support it draws from the RAM of course, this for the Cache management, and we can still see an excellent management value in terms of latency.

We then carried out a test with the diagnostic application SEPTEMBER integrates a pure power benchmarks, adding the average performance speeds. And the result is satisfactory, it still shows an interesting increase in performance compared to the previous Gen. An increase that however reflects little in daily use, and which above all serves rather serves to support the new structure created by Intel, precisely to cope with the new latency very low. Not to me that you are not a user of specific software, in that case the rendering times could be reduced for example, on the Gaming front, the improvements are always and in any case poured on the CPU.

We tested the RAM at the speed of 4852, as in the 5200 profile we encountered several problems in terms of compatibility, such as that the changes at the software level were accepted, but the RAM did not maintain the set frequency. This is certainly the fruit of the current maturity of the new Gen. We will certainly have to wait for future Fixt from not only the manufacturer in question, but on all fronts, starting with Microsoft itself, ending with Motherboard BIOS updates.

In conclusion

For what we have tested we can not complain, except for the software incompatibility that we met somewhat with all benchmarks and monitoring software, the RAM even if not at maximum power work and support our CPU without bottleneck.

In aesthetic terms we are certainly faced with well-built RAM, with an attractive and certainly pleasant design. We are facing a new generation, so, as is normal, we still have to wait for all the ensuing context to mature fully, and together with it. We are sure that this will take place calmly, in the meantime to follow the developments in this regard, we advise you to continue to follow our pages, a greeting from TechGameWorld.com.
