The Chinese drone manufacturer DIJ has just stated that it will stop selling temporarily drones at the Russia, to prevent such devices from being used in combat. It is the first large Chinese company to take such action against Russia, as the state has so far held a neutral stance.
Whether this is an isolated case or the beginning of a real trend, for now it is too early to tell, but it is certainly a good sign, given the importance of China in the supply of which Russia he needs to carry on his war, even if DIJ still wanted to soften the tone. Here’s what the company said:
“DJI abhors any use of our drones that could cause harm and we have temporarily suspended sales in these countries to make sure no one uses our drones in combat.” The company then specified that “it is not a position on any country, but a position with respect to our principles”.
In recent weeks, recordings have emerged that had shown the Chinese company’s drones engaged in various Russian military operations in Ukraine, even if, according to what DIJ itself stated, these drones should not be suitable for use for war purposes. Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukrainian deputy minister, had asked the company for clarification a few days ago.
