The synopsis of The Little Things in Life is as follows:

Based on Cheryl Strayed’s best-selling collection, The Little Things in Life is about a woman, Clare (Kathryn Hahn), who becomes a revered advice columnist editor as her life falls apart. When we first meet Clare, her marriage to Danny is winding down. Of her daughter of her Rae of her hardly speaks to her. And her career as a once promising writer is nonexistent. So when an old friend suggests she take on the advice column like Dear Sugar, she thinks she’s the last person right for the job. But after reluctantly accepting her, she realizes that she might be absolutely qualified instead. As the letter writers force Clare to relive her most pivotal moments – her mother’s death, her breakup with her brother, even some bad sex in the back of a funeral home – she delves into the beauty, the struggle and the humor in his life to show us that we are not beyond redemption, that it is our stories that can ultimately save us… and maybe even bring us home.
