DJI powers its professional drones: the DJI Matrice 30 arrives

DJI Matrice 30 is the new commercial drone of the Chinese company, designed to be conveniently stored inside a backpack. We are therefore faced with a compact product that does not give up anything: on board we have high performance sensors and an improved version of the software Pilot 2, combined with a completely redesigned controller.

The newcomer also integrates seamlessly with the platform DJI FlightHub 2, which allows you to manage an entire fleet via the cloud, and with DJI Dock, to facilitate all those collaborative operations that are carried out remotely.

Two versions are coming: M30 e M30T. The first integrates a 48 megapixel CMOS sensor with 5x-16x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom; in addition we have a 12 megapixel wide-angle lens, the ability to record video in 4K at 30fps and a laser that provides precise coordination of any object up to 1,200 meters away. The second, the M30T, boasts an additional radiometric thermal camera.

DJI Matrice 30: the characteristics

DJI Matrice 30 shows up with the IP55 certification and resistance to extreme temperatures, from -20 ° C to + 50 ° C. This allows the drone to withstand even heavy rain, wind, the most varied altitudes and even snow and ice.

To characterize it also an improved first-person experience in low light conditions, backup and redundancy systems to always keep your data safe, the emergency landing with three propellers, a new technology to evaluate the state of the drone, the OcuSync 3 Enterprise transmission system with four antennas and enhanced sensors to avoid obstacles automatically, allowing the pilot to focus only on his mission.

As anticipated, the DJI Matrice 30 (or M30) drone adopts a new and unusual design, at least for commercial drones. Indeed, the product is designed to fold in on itself so as to facilitate transport, an activity also permitted by the overall low weight: 3,7 kg.

The battery of this M30 is also new, designed to support 400 charging cycles and to ensure 41 minutes of flight. With the dedicated BS30 charging station you can also go from 20% to 90% in just 30 minutes, so you can get back in the air immediately.

Finally, great attention is paid to data management and security. Updates can be made offline, simply by saving the new firmware version on a microSD card, and the Local Data mode is available which disconnects the drone from the Internet so all collected data remains solely within the drone. Finally, remember that photos, videos and flight logs present in the microSD are encrypted with the AES standard.

The new DJI RC Plus controller

Among the innovations of DJI we also find the controller RC Plus, with a 7-inch display with high brightness so as to view as much data as possible even in direct sunlight.

The controller, equipped with IP54 certificationha six physical buttons and two sticks, designed to facilitate the use of the drone and to help the pilot easily activate features such as the ultra-wide-angle camera, zoom or infrared. Then we have the slot for the microSD, a USB port, a USB-C input, the HDMI one and 4G connectivity.

The battery guarantees 6 hours of use and can be quickly replaced so you don’t have to interrupt the mission and wait for the controller to reload.

DJI FlightHub 2

DJI’s latest commercial drone integrates with the platform FlightHub 2, designed for fleet management. The software is designed to allow synchronization and coordination between ground teams, drones, pilots and all the data that is collected.
All of this allows those who are working on the same goal to see the data in real time using a simple browser.

DJI FlightHub 2 it also allows the creation of 360 ° and 3D maps and the insertion of lines, points and polygons on the map, so as to make communication and coordination between all the people involved in the same operation even easier.

DJI Dock

To complete the picture, think about it DJI Dock, a station designed for take-off, landing and charging of DJI M30 and M30T. All this without your intervention: the drone begins to recharge autonomously and be ready for a new take-off after only 30 minutes.

DJI Dock also is resistant to water and dust and at extreme temperatures; it is equipped with an internal battery that guarantees operation even in the event of a blackout and can be connected to a 4G dongle. On board then we find a weather station, ultra-wide-angle surveillance cameras and the base dedicated to DJI’s D-RTK system.

Weight? 90 kg for a product covering an area of ​​1x1m. To use it you will need to fix it to the ground, connect it to the power supply and finally to the Internet. Also you can connect it to the DJI RC Plus controller so you use a single tool to set up the Dock and the drone.

Availability

The DJI Matrice 30 will come along with the RC Plus controller, a set of batteries and the charging box and will be available for purchase online and at DJI Enterprise resellers.
FlightHub 2, on the other hand, can be tested for free starting today and until October 31st.
The Dock will finally hit the market in Q4.
