Does Konami want to resurrect Castlevania, Silent Hill and Metal Gear?

According to a new rumor circulating on the net, Konami would intend to resurrect some of its historical series, for the creation of new chapters and remakes. We are talking about titles of the caliber of Metal Gear, Silent Hill e Castlevania, all franchises of which Konami owns the rights but of which the original authors have become independent from the company. Here’s what we know.

Konami: new chapters for Silent Hill, Castlevania and Metal Gear?

It is useless to go around it: Konami doesn’t have a good reputation when it comes to video game development. Its latest major releases have all been devastated by audiences and critics and, as if that weren’t enough, the company has systematically managed to drive away all its prominent authors, clipping their wings on a creative level. In recent years it seemed the company had shelved the gaming section, focusing on the production of pachinko, but apparently we could be wrong.

In fact, Konami would be heading towards one strong internal restructuring, which could bring us new titles from the most iconic franchises that Konami currently owns the rights to. The first of these titles in development would be a new Castlevania, described as a re-imagination of the series, in progress at studios outside the company.

As if that were not enough, there is also the rumor of an elusive remake di Metal Gear Solid, which many believe is in development at Bluepoint studios. This theory has been partially disavowed by the insiders, according to whom the project exists but another software house called Virtuous. It is not clear if it will actually be a remake or a spin-off, given that the information about it is extremely nebulous.

Finally, there would also be a new chapter of Silent Hill, entrusted in this case to a particularly prominent Japanese studio, but in this case we know practically nothing about it. If this information turns out to be true, it must be admitted that Konami has made a good choice to entrust these projects to external firms, given the disappointing results of its latest forays into the triple A market.

All that remains is to wait to find out the truth.
