Far Cry 6: no Ray Tracing on consoles, here’s why

Far Cry 6 will not have Ray Tracing on console, according to a Ubisoft programmer who also revealed the reasons for the choice

In a recent interview with Wccftech, the lead programmer of Ubisoft, Stephanie Brenham, revealed that Far Cry 6 will have no options of Ray Tracing on console. During the interview, the same programmer revealed that console gamers will not be able to enjoy the cutting edge in terms of lighting technology. Well yes: nothing Ray Tracing per Far Cry 6, at least on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S. Stephanie Brenham explained that with Far Cry 6 on console, Ubisoft wants to prioritize performance with respect to visual fidelity. Ray tracing is a feature exclusive to the PC version of Far Cry 6. On consoles, our goal has been to take advantage of the new hardware features, optimizing performance by targeting 4K and reaching 60 FPS, while ensuring that the new features games, such as our dynamic weather system, are supported on all platforms.

What makes this omission quite interesting is the fact that Ubisoft has previously included console ray tracing options in its previous titles such as Watch Dogs Legion.
