Ferrari Roma Tailor Made unique piece inspired by ancient Japan

The latest creation of the Prancing Horse brand and its bespoke personalization program is the Ferrari Roma Tailor Made. This is a unique edition which has been customized by the prestigious North American magazine specializing in design COOL HUNTING. The designers combined the original design of the Ferrari Roma with elements inspired by the Japanese tradition.

The story of this creation begins after several research trips to Japan by the founders of COOL HUNTING. They met with Flavio Manzoni, Head of Design Ferrari, at the Ferrari Tailor Made showroom in New York. Here the ideas of Evan Oresten e Josh Rubin have become reality on a Ferrari Roma that you can’t help but notice.

Ferrari Roma Tailor Made, mix of elegant elements “made in Japan”

The first characteristic element of this unique creation is the vivid blue color of the exterior paint, inspired by traditional Japanese indigo dyes. A shade that is created especially for this unit and is named Indigo Metal. The same, as you can see, perfectly highlights the elegant and athletic shapes of the “Rome”.

Taking as a reference the sakior, an 18th century process in which deteriorated kimonos were disassembled to create new warm and resistant fabrics, an innovative solution was discovered for the interior of this “special” Ferrari. Using two vintage kimonos made in Japan and by weaving its fabrics with high-strength nylon, the new compound it is used to cover the ceiling.

The interior door handles are also inspired by Japan, as they have been wrapped in hand-woven black leather bands in homage to the tsukami. This is the ancient art of wrapping katana handles.

And there is also copper

The shift inserts and the lever itself are copper plated, taking inspiration from the copper cans of a historic company based in Kyoto. The copper color is also chosen to paint the 20-inch wheels.

A kamon. This is a symbol passed down from generation to generation in Japanese culture that represents the wheel of an ox cart. Here it is combined with the eight pistons of the Roma V8 engine to form the spokes.

Under the hood, this Ferrari Roma Tailor Made is equipped with the same supercharged V8 engine yes 620 CV that equips the production model. As known, it allows you to go from 0 to 100 km / h in about 3.4 seconds and to reach a maximum speed of 320 km / h.
