In one of the most typically Italian news of the week, Electronic Arts (or rather, EA Sports) announced which ones Serie A teams will be available in FIFA 22. We are dealing with no less than sixteen different teams. As we know how the world of licensing works, this also means that these teams will not appear in the rival series, eFootball (formerly known as Pro Evolution Soccer, or PES). With this agreement, Serie A is fully integrated into promotions Team of the Week e FUT Serie A Team of the season, as well as in the prize EA Sports Player of the month.
The Serie A teams to appear in FIFA 22 will be sixteen, in an agreement that makes EA Sports the new sponsor of the championship. The latter, in the 2022-2023 season, will be appropriately renamed EA Sports Supercup. The teams involved are Bologna, Cagliari, Empoli, Fiorentina, Genoa, Verona, Inter Milan, Napoli, Salerno, Sampdoria, Sassuolo, Spezia Calcio, Turin, l ‘Udinese and Venice. Konami at the moment it has four Serie A teams available exclusively, and therefore Electronic Arts will have to remedy with equivalent names.
We are talking about Piemonte Calcio (Juventus), Bergamo Calcio (Atalanta), Latium (Lazio) and Roma Football Club (Roma). For what concern Naples, due to a close agreement with Konami this will be the last season in which we will see him on the fields of FIFA. Electronic Arts has stated that it is a multi-year agreement with Lega Serie A, which allows its teams to enjoy “authentic representation” in the game. In compliance with the agreements “made elsewhere”, EA Sports aims to increase its presence in Italian football. At this point, the real transfer market seems to be between the two publishers!
