From December 31, goodbye to the Immuni app: here’s what will happen to personal data

No more immune apps. As of December 31, 2022 the application will stop working and will be removed from all digital stores. This was communicated by the Ministry of Health, which had introduced the tool on April 30, 2020, in full first wave, to keep track of infections from Covid-19.

Those who still have the application installed will no longer be able to use it to receive notifications regarding any contacts with positive people. Furthermore, it will no longer be possible to acquire the Green Pass either. Immuni, however, can be used to maintain certifications already acquired in the past or from other platforms.

Those who instead wish to recover their green certifications, in fact, will be able to do so through all the other online tools made available by the ministry. These include the Io App, the Electronic Health Record and the www.dgc.gov.it database

Immuni app: what about the personal data acquired?

Since its introduction with the decree law number 28 of 30 April 2020, the digital tool had caused much discussion. In fact, many complained about the collection of user data. So what will happen now that it will be decommissioned?

Actually nothing. The Ministry of Health has specified that starting from 31 December “any processing of personal data carried out will be interrupted”. Which means that theThe entire Immuni database will simply be deleted.
