Portfolio Italia 2021 is born – FUJIFILM Grand Prix, the traveling photographic event that rewards the best portfolios
A collaboration, the one between FUJIFILM and FIAF – Italian Federation of Photographic Associations, which has lasted for years and which has led to the realization of many projects to reinforce more and more the centrality of photography as an effective means to tell the world and the human being.
For the new edition of “Portfolio Italy – Fujifilm Grand Prix“, FUJIFILM is the exclusive partner of the traveling photographic event which, through a series of stages throughout Italy, from May to October, goes in search of the most beautiful photographic portfolios in the area, gathering twenty finalists whose works will then be exhibited in a national exhibition at the CIFA – Italian Center for Author Photography in Bibbiena.
The project is promoted and supported as part of the “Photography Strategy 2020” call, promoted by the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture.
The calendar of the XXVIII edition of “Portfolio Italia – Fujifilm Grand Prix” includes 11 stages, with the following dates:
The stages will take place some online and others in presence, to allow all photographers and photography enthusiasts to participate in total safety. Reading online portfolios is a tool with great potential because it manages to bring together a large number of enthusiasts who, for various reasons, find it difficult to participate in the traditional way and, moreover, favors a more widespread dissemination of photographic culture.
In 2020 the event, held partly online due to the pandemic, recorded record numbers with 882 participating authors, over 20% more than in 2019, and 1807 readings carried out. “Portfolio Italia” is therefore one of the reference events for all photography enthusiasts, both amateur and professional photographers, as well as being a meeting place to find new talents of Italian photography.
All the portfolios awarded during the circuit will be exhibited in Bibbiena (AR) at the CIFA – Italian Center of Author Photography. The exhibition will be inaugurated on Saturday 27 November 2021 and during the closing gala of the event to be held on the same day in the nineteenth-century Dovizi Theater in Bibbiena, the three finalist portfolios will be announced and the winner of the 2021 edition will be announced.
