Futura: the official trailer of the film

Futura is ready to arrive in cinemas on June 17, 2021. Let’s find out the official trailer together.

After making his feature film debut with “Cloro”, nominated for the David di Donatello and the Globi d’oro 2015 awards, director Lamberto Sanfelice returns behind the camera with Futura to tell the story of a jazz musician looking for a second chance in life.

“The idea of the film comes from an encounter” – explains the director – “One day walking down the street I heard a trumpet playing jazz to discover that the sound of the instrument came from a taxi driver sitting in the driver’s seat in his vehicle stopped at the taxi stop. From this image some questions arose: why had this man stopped playing music? What would have happened if the taxi driver wanted to go back to pursuing his passion for jazz? “

Thus the character of Louis was born from this image, a talented jazz player who has now forgotten his dreams and lives human relationships at a distance, with an unresolved relationship with his father behind him and now struggling with a nightlife punctuated by drug dealing and techno music, in a perennial sense of frustration for an existence that he feels does not belong to him.

Futura: the trailer of the film with Matilde Gioli

Played by Niels Schneider, actor dear to the director Xavier Dolan with whom he worked in the films “J’ai tué ma mère” and “Les amours imaginaires”, Louis lives with his wife Valentina (Matilde Gioli, former star of “Human Capital” by Paolo Virzì, of the Italian comedies “Mamma or Papa?”, “The golden men”, “It’s for your good” and in the cast of the successful TV series “Doc- In your hands”) and his daughter Anita (Aurora Onofri) a little girl looking for an emotional contact with an elusive father.

Next to Louis there is also Lucya (played by Daniela Vega, acclaimed protagonist of “A fantastic woman” by Sebastián Lelio, Oscar winner for best foreign language film), a Chilean trans with whom the musician peddles the night, equipped with great singing power that performs singing Puccini’s Madama Butterfly in night clubs.

Music, from techno to jazz, passing through opera, thus becomes the beating heart of the story and rhythms the emotional path of the protagonist, a universal language through which Louis will be able to express himself fully. The cast is completed by two leading exponents of Italian and international jazz, Stefano Di Battista and Enrico Rava, also authors of the original music of the film together with Lorenzo Cosi and Giovanni Damiani.
