After years as a real reference for online purchases of Chinese products, GearBest may have gone bankrupt and closed its doors for good. The popular e-commerce, in fact, has been completely offline for days. Trying to connect to the portal, at gearbest.com, you will read an explanatory “Invalid URL”. The site could be permanently offline, a sign that the activities of the historic e-commerce may have been interrupted.
GearBest has been inaccessible for about two weeks. The popular e-commerce specialized in the sale of Chinese products may have definitively closed its doors, crushed by the competition of the rival AliExpress and by the many e-commerce born in recent years. No official statements arrived but the message “Invalid URThe reading that can be read by consulting the store’s Home Page does not leave room for many other interpretations. Even on social networks there is no news. GearBest accounts are silent and the last post, on Facebook, dates back to last July.
Globalegrow, company that owns GearBest, as emerged in recent days. filed for bankruptcy in the first half of 2021. Note that another company’s e-commerce, SammyDress, is still online but appears to have been sold to a third party. For GearBest, however, there will be no future. The latest (short) statement from GearBest’s CEO confirms that the company has had difficulty paying suppliers and has stopped sending products. At the moment, it is not clear what the fate of users who have made purchases on the portal recently will be.
