Gearbox: The development team has nine AAA games in the works

AAA, hype wanted: nine games with high production values at the Gearbox development and publisher team, according to Embracer Group

The development team behind Borderlands, Gearboxapparently he has in his hands nine new AAA games. And to confirm this, albeit in an at least indirect way, is the company that owns the studio. We allude to Embracer Group, which in the latest fiscal report revealed to its investors a detail that was certainly not a small one. The statement is not among the most unequivocal, thanks to the unrepentant use of a term as noble as the so-called triple A, Furthermore, it has not been specified whether we are talking about Gearbox as a “simple” development team or, as plausible, also in the guise of publisher.

He said: i love the novel AAA di Gearbox?

“Gearbox continues to organize its ambitious growth plan, and currently nine AAA games are in development”: so goes this partially cryptic statement. While not entering into the qualitative merit of the productions involved (also for production values), the statement is at least encouraging. As we have already said, however, we are not “only” talking about a development team, but also about an established publisher. We might be dealing with indie of valuable caliber, although devoid of the now Hollywood budgets to which the gaming industry has accustomed us.

Under the Gearbox publishing wing, two promising titles in the works have been revealed. Let’s talk about Homeworld 3, by Blackbird Interactiveand Hyper Light Breaker edited by Heart Machine. Neither, to the detriment of their undoubted quality, corresponds to the high resonance of the increasingly less clear classification as “triple A”. We do know, however, that the development team is currently grappling with a sequel to the beloved Tales from the Borderlands. The sequel is scheduled for this year, and in the summer (we assume during the Summer Game Fest) we should have a reveal.

Now it’s up to you to tell us yours: do you think Embracer just dropped a bomb?
