God of War Ragnarök: will the release be in November or will the game be postponed again?

God of War Ragnarokthe latest installment in the long-running series and direct sequel to 2018’s God of War, was announced in 2020 for PlayStation consoles, according to a recent rumor the new title is expected to arrive with a ‘exit a November 2022. Sony has postponed the title in question several times already, both publicly and internally, as developers face the pandemic and other production challenges. Earlier this year the game was scheduled for September, but it is now rumored that Ragnarok has been moved to November. A Sony spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The new game is expected to be a smash hit and one of Sony’s key software. The Japanese giant was unable to produce enough PlayStation 5 consoles to keep up with demand, costing it market share. God of War Ragnarok will be available on both the new console and the old PlayStation 4, which has sold over 117 million units, giving the game a substantial install base. The prequel, meanwhile, has sold nearly 20 million copies.

A recent report from the European gaming website GameReactor, combined with the absence of the game at major industry events such as the Summer Games Fest and it State of Play by Sony, led to speculation that God of War Ragnarok wouldn’t be out until 2023.

No date is certain in the turbulent world of game development, and Ragnarok may still be delayed; for now, however, take what we have told you with a grain of salt as nothing has been confirmed yet.
