Google will reduce the controls on app information in the Play Store

Over the past few weeks, the Google Play Store has launched a section dedicated to user data collected by applications. This section, present in the tab of each app, summarizes the permissions to be granted to the app and, therefore, the data it must access. Google, however, could reduce the system of checks on the statements of the developers. Here are the details:

According to a recent report, Google should no longer display a verified list of permissions requested by apps published on the Play Store. Over the foreseeable future, it will be up to individual developers to fill in this section of your app card, by entering all the required data which, however, may not be verified by Google’s automatic systems.

According to what we read in one support page published by Googlethe company should take “Appropriate actions” in case of discrepancies between the information reported by the developers and the operation of the app published on the Play Store. At the moment, however, it is not clear what kind of control will be on the information provided by the developers.

Google will therefore adopt a system similar to the one already applied by Apple. This system, however, has already in the past highlighted substantial discrepancies between what is indicated by the developers and what is actually required by the apps to individual users. It will be necessary to wait for the next few weeks for more precise information on how this system works.
