GoPro: An Emmy Award for its groundbreaking technology

GoPro is pleased to announce its victory in the “In Camera Sensor and Software Stabilization” category at the 73rd Edition of the Technology & Engineering Emmy® Awards. To be awarded was the revolutionary system that underlies GoPro’s video stabilization, HyperSmooth technology – used across the brand’s entire line of cameras, first of all the HERO10 Black and MAX.

“I’m really proud of our team and the drive for innovation that we experience within GoPro,” commented Nicholas Woodman, founder and CEO of the Californian company. “This Emmy is a valuable recognition of the work we have done over the past two decades in both hardware and software innovation.”

This is the second time in its history that GoPro has won an Emmy Award. The first time, in 2013, the company was awarded for its HERO3 camera – a real revolution for the time, given the high quality of the images combined with the overall small size. Then as now, GoPro enabled professional videographers and amateurs to capture breathtaking perspectives in ways previously unthinkable.

I Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards are given to individuals, companies or organizations who have distinguished themselves in the research and development of innovative technologies that have impacted the world of television and entertainment. Each year, a committee of engineers specializing in the television industry analyzes the achievements and successes of companies in the sector and determines who deserves an award.

“The Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards were introduced in 1949, and have since charted the path that led to the creation of all other Emmys” added Adam Sharp, CEO and President of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, creator of the award. “We are really happy to reward these prestigious companies, which bring innovation, technology and excitement to the world of television”.

The official awards ceremony will take place on April 25th at the Wynn Encore Ballroom in Las Vegas. To learn more about the Technology & Engineering Emmy® Awards, visit The Emmys website.
