The working title of the HBO Max series is Gotham Central O Gotham PD.

While in Joe Barton, the showrunner of Gotham PD, reveals a few more details: the cops in the series will all be bad. Barton further stated that the Batman spin-off will have a similar tone to what is expected from the next reboot.

Gotham PD: news on the spin-off series of The Batman

Barton has stated that there will be no good cops in the series, underlining the level of corruption we will see in Gotham before the rise of the dark Knight.

The series is a likely nod to the comics on Gotham Central, created by Greg Rucka, Ed Brubaker e Michael Lark. The comic ran from 2002 to 2006 and focused on the city’s police department and the difficulties of working as a police officer in a city like Gotham. In particular, we will follow the events of one of these policemen; yet, of course, it has not been specified who this cop will be, but it seems that he will have some connection with the Batman mystery.

Furthermore, the spin-off of The Batman it should be set about a year before the film; since Reeves’ film is set during the second year of the Dark Knight in Gotham.

We wish to return to Year One, which is the beginning. Telling the first appearance of this hero with the mask that upsets the city.

A release date has not yet been set for the series, while The Batman is expected to come out on March 4, 2022.
