Gran Turismo 7: news on multiplayer and cross-gen support

Gran Turismo 7 isn’t exactly around the corner, however, some details have surfaced about gross-gen support and multiplayer recently.

The Gran Turismo series has seen the passing of several generations of Sony consoles. Many of you will know, the franchise even began on the platform of the first historic console PlayStation original and continues to thrive today. Virtually always a Gran Turismo title has accompanied every Sony console and we know that the next main entry in the historic racing series is on its way. Gran Turismo 7 will be launched next year and you can play it for both PlayStation 4 that for PlayStation 5, in today’s news we talk about what has officially emerged recently on the support for the two Sony-branded consoles and on the multiplayer of the highly anticipated title in question. Gran Turismo 7: Cross-Generational Multiplayer Confirmed

Recently, Eurogamer had a chance to speak with the creator of the Gran Turismo series, Kazunori Yamauchi. During this conversation several small aspects of the multiplayer from Gran Turismo 7. One of the things that players may not be aware of is the fact that one is required online connection for campaign mode. This might be a bit of a hassle for some fans, but to enjoy the campaign, you’ll need to make sure your console is connected to the internet. In the meantime, there has been confirmation that you can at least enjoy it arcade mode offline.

Another element that emerged from the interview is the fact that there will be a cross-generational support. If you have friends on the PlayStation 4 version of the game and play on the PlayStation 5, you will still be able to connect. Multiplayer is a significant component of this game and will be available for cross-play. However, we’ll have to wait and see how the game performs on both Sony platforms.

There are some differences already known: as is normal, the PlayStation 5 version of the game will take advantage of theSSD and the controller DualSense. Currently, Gran Turismo 7 is scheduled for March 4, 2022. It’s not exactly a short wait to endure. The title was presented as a return to origins for the series published by Sony.
