Harley-Davidson prepares the LiveWire S2 Del Mar electric motorcycle

This year Harley-Davidson will unveil an affordable electric motorcycle unveiled under the name of LiveWire S2 Del Mar. According to Harley-Davidson CEO Jochen Zeitz, the electric motorcycle is expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2022. During a recent meeting with investors, the same CEO said that the new electric LiveWire will be the first Harley-Davidson green vehicle to be launched using the ARROW platform. Using this platform, the new electric motorcycle will be much lighter and more affordable than the previously released LiveWire model, the LiveWire One.

ARROW is a new platform entirely built by the LiveWire team. This was built to house batteries, electronics, and a lightweight yet high-performance motor. Using this platform also promises lower production costs.

With LiveWire S2 Del Mar Harley-Davidson raises the bar for electric motorcycles

LiveWire S2 Del Mar has already made headlines for being a new turning point in the world of electric motorcycles. This is because there are several new technologies that will be applied. For example, the use of 21,700 cylindrical lithium-ion cells. Batteries of this size are usually used in electric cars rather than motorcycles. Batteries of this size are believed to have very high durability, safety and durability. In addition, LiveWire S2 Del Mar is also equipped with the technology Firmware Over the Air (FOTA). This technology is similar to the remote software updates that are offered in electric and non-electric cars.

The difference that an update brings PHOTO is the functionality of the calibration, algorithms and electronic systems found in the Harley-Davidson electric motorcycle. In practice, the owner of the motorcycle does not need to go to the workshop only for routine maintenance. It just has to send the code of the electric motor and then perform the maintenance remotely. Harley-Davidson has not announced the price of the LiveWire S2 Del Mar. By way of comparison, the LiveWire One currently sells for $ 21,999. So it could be that the price of the S2 Del Mar is lower. Harley-Davidson plans to reveal more about its LiveWire S2 Del Mar in May.
