Hogwarts Legacy for PC will feature controversial Denuvo technology

Less than a month is left for the release of the highly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy, an open world set in the Harry Potter universe of the late 1800s, well before the events of the most popular wizard on the planet. The game will be released on PlayStation 5 consoles, Xbox Series X|S and PC on February 10, 2023. And it is precisely the PC version that is causing a lot of discussion, as it was reported today that Hogwarts Legacy will feature technology Denuvo.

Denuvo is an anti-piracy solution that to call unpopular would be an understatement: gamers literally hate it. Denuvo technology indeed provides that gamers must be constantly online, even for single player games. The real problem though, complained about by many users, is that Denuvo tends to slow down the performance of games.

Titles such as Rise Of The Tomb Raider and Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, for example, were launched with Denuvo technology, only to be removed with subsequent updates after protests from players who complained that video games were unplayable. Titles like Monster Hunter: World and Mass Effect: Legacy Edition also removed Denuvo shortly after launch.

Hogwarts Legacy will be released on February 10 for PC, and will have Denuvo

The news that the PC version of Hogwarts Legacy would implement Denuvo technology came via the game’s official page on Steam. It goes without saying that since the announcement there has been a real social revolt by the players. In fact, we recall that Hogwarts Legacy is hands down one of the most anticipated games of the year, and the fans are not about to let the gaming experience be ruined.

Elsewhere on the Epic Games Store, there’s no mention of Denuvo, but that doesn’t mean the technology will automatically be absent from the game on EGS.

We remind you that Hogwarts Legacy, after the February release for PC and new-gen consoles, will also arrive on PlayStation 4, Xbox One on April 4th. In the end on July 25 the game will also land on Nintendo Switch.

Earlier this week it was confirmed that the actor Simon Pegg (Mission Impossible III, Star Trek Beyond) will voice the headmaster of Hogwarts Phineas Nigel Blacka character he described as a “selfish fool”.
