Hollow Knight: Silksong release date has been pushed back (again)

The release date is postponed again for Hollow Knight: Silksong, but due to the very promising ambition of the development team

The sequel to Hollow Knight is so eagerly awaited that we have led ourselves to allude to Silksong in the recap of the latest Indie World, but the exit date was postponed again. The window for the launch was generous: between June 2022 and June 2023. Yet, day one was officially seen in the Xbox showcase, despite the courageous transparency with which Microsoft only included games expected within the coming year in its presentation. The idea was to avoid the excessive hype of titles with distant dates, but apparently that’s exactly what Team Cherry is inadvertently going towards.

The unattainable release date of Hollow Knight: Silksong, perpetually postponed

Indeed, during the Xbox show, titles that are now out have appeared, such as The Callisto Protocol, High on Life, Atomic Heart, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Pentiment and, among others, even the only one whose release date is still wrapped up in the mystery, Hollow Knight: Silksong. Ark 2 and Starfield are also yet to come out, but in their case we have an idea of their arrival period. Despite fans’ fears, though, it’s not a case of development hell, as he revealed Matthew Griffin by Team Cherry in a tweet. In the post, Griffin said the game has “just” evolved beyond its original milestone.

The game has therefore become, literally, “nice big”. This is not a trivial word, given the usual understatement of videogame public relations, to the point of pushing fervently waiting fans to analyze every crumb of possible information. One fan, whose Reddit post got lost in the folds of time, spent a month looking at screenshots of a single location in the game to get a vague understanding of the size of the map. The conclusion we can draw from it is that it can also be about a new standard for metroidvanias. And the hype bar to satisfy, however undesirable for the development team, has inevitably risen.

Now it’s up to you to tell us yours: what do you think of the game? Let us know below, and as always, don’t forget to stay on techgameworld.com for all the most important news for gamers and more. For your purely gaming needs, you can instead find the best discounts in digital format on Kinguin.
