It couldn’t be a Pokemon game without Pikachu. The electric mouse has always been the icon of the saga and is one of the most recognizable characters in history, and has never been missing from the regional Pokédexes of each Pokemon generation, including Pokemon Scarlet and Purple.
But where can you find Pikachu (or Pichu) in Pokemon Scarlet and Purple? This electric pokémon can be obtained in the wild in several regions, although it is rare.
Here we explain where to find pichu and evolve it to Pikachu y Raichu (although these can also be found swarming around Paldea).
Where to catch Pikachu in Pokemon Scarlet and Purple
Pikachu can be caught wild in various areas of Paldea. Keep in mind that it is a rare Pokemon, and it does not come out in the wild as much as others, but it is possible to find it in the field with the naked eye, just like Eevee.
A good trick is to look at the minimap, because it will warn you of the Pokemon that can be found in a small radius of distance.
These are the areas where you can get Pikachu:
- Area 3 (West)
- Area 2 (South)
- Area 4 (South)
- Area 1 (East)
How to evolve Raichu
To evolve Raichu, you must pick up a Pikachu and use a Thunder Stone on it. It will be able to evolve from level 28, but you must use the thunder stone on it, otherwise it will not evolve itself.
These stones can be obtained in the normal way on the Paldea map, but you can also buy them in Delibazar stores after getting three medals.
How to get a free Pikachu (until February 28, 2023)
There’s another way to get Pikachu in Pokemon Scarlet and Purple… and that’s through the Mystery Gift feature. To do this, open the SmartRotom menu (press X), connect to the Poképortal, select the Receive option mysterious giftand you will receive it automatically.
It is a special Pikachu, which knows the movement Flight (which it cannot learn normally) and on top of that it is a teratype Flying.
Of course, it has an expiration date: this promotion will be available only until on February 28, 2023.
Here’s our review of Pokemon Scarlet and Purple: “The graphics are still their biggest weakness, but they shine so brightly in everything else and are SO special games… they get our A’s.”
