We promptly informed the Guarantor for the Protection of Personal Data and among the various security measures adopted, we blocked the server concerned and permanently removed it from the network. We are continuing to work with our IT teams to ensure our systems maintain a high standard of security.”

The company also confirms that “ contact information (such as emails, addresses and telephone numbers) and vehicle data (such as chassis numbers). On the other hand, neither financial data nor official identification numbers were affected.

Hyundai stressed that the attack it had no impact on the car’s functionality. But he recommended customers to pay attention to possible fraud attempts based on the stolen data. For example, they might receive false communications from public or private entities requesting payments or sanctions in relation to their car.
