IMG RTXM-2200: Imagination lancia la sua prima CPU RISC-V embedded

Imagination launches IMG RTXM-2200, its first real-time embedded RISC-V CPU

Imagination Technologies (here for more information on the company) announces IMG RTXM-2200his first CPU RISC-V embedded in real time. An embedded solution a 32 bit highly scalable. Feature-rich, with a flexible design for a wide range of high-volume devices. IMG RTXM-2200 is one of the first commercial cores of the family of CPU Catapult by Imagination, previously announced in December 2021.

Accelerating the expansion of its RISC-V offering, Imagination’s IMG RTXM-2200 can be integrated into Complex SoCs for a range of applications. Including network solutions, package management, storage controller and sensor management for AI cameras, and smart metering. Together with the market-leading GPU and AI accelerator IP, Imagination’s new CPU cores offer customers access to innovative heterogeneous solutions.

Technical details on the new IMG RTXM-2200

This real-time integrated core delivers up to 128 KB of memories closely coupled (both instructions and data). So you get deterministic response and up to 128KB level 1 cache size for reliable performance. The new CPU offers a range of floating point formats included single-precision e bfloat16. The latter allows manufacturers to implement artificial intelligence applications through this core without the need for an additional chip. This reduces the silicon area, for optimized and cost-effective design in AI cameras and smart metering applications.

Statements

Below are the first comments on the new IMG RTXM-2200. Chris PorthouseChief Product Officer, Imag128 KBon, afferma:

We are excited to announce the IMG RTXM-2200, our first real-time RISC-V CPU, which is the foundation of our ongoing commitment to drive the growth of the RISC-V ecosystem. Imagination now has a unique and broad portfolio of compute IPs, including GPUs, AI accelerators, and now CPUs, designed for this innovative architecture.

Calista RedmondCEO of RISC-V International, says:

RISC-V International is thrilled to see Imagination maintain its momentum by launching its first licensed 32-bit embedded real-time processor. Since the announcement of its entry into the RISC-V IP CPU market. This underlines the expansion of the RISC-V architecture as developers leverage this flexible technology to meet multiple market needs. We are delighted to see Imagination’s commitment to driving ecosystem growth with the provision of its SDK and support of source operating systems.

James HodgsonPrincipal Analyst, ABI Research, afferma:

Carmakers seek to exploit RISC-V’s innovation potential and time-to-market benefits. They need an IP partner who meets the stringent power and security requirements of the vertical industry. With the launch of the IMG RTXM-2200, Imagination lays the foundation for future automotive RISC-V CPUs for this market. Complementing its portfolio of AI acceleration GPUs and IPs. This positions Imagination well to support the heterogeneous computing that will prove essential to meeting the automotive industry’s connected infotainment and autonomous vehicle ambitions in the future.

Steve LeibsonPrincipal Analyst, TIRIAS Research, afferma:

It’s great to see an established IP provider like Imagination jump and give the RISC-V bandwagon even more momentum. With an initial emphasis on real-time embedded applications. The company’s first commercial RISC-V core in the Catapult family is expected to appeal to SoC design teams working in the IoT and other embedded markets.

IMG RTXM-2200 technologies and software

Leveraging Imagination’s 20+ years of experience in delivering complex IP solutions, the new CPU is supported by the open standard RISC-V ecosystem rapidly expanding. System that continues to shake the embedded CPU sector through the democratization of computing, unlocking innovative technologies and open development for companies at all levels. Imagination’s real-time embedded cores feature a Full software SDK and a toolbox at launch. They work instantly across multiple platforms to help develop and support the RISC-V ecosystem.

Shreyas DerashriVP of Compute, Imagination, stated that:

For over 20 years, Imagination has created the market-leading GPU, AI accelerator, and IP CPU. This places us in a unique position where we can offer our customers a solid and competitive choice when it comes to next generation SoC development. The IMG RTXM-2200 RISC-V CPU brings together years of IP design experience and comprehensive software support to enable instant and easy access for developers, further enhancing our heterogeneous offering.

Modern and cutting-edge IDE

Catapult Studio Integrated Development Environment (IDE) è un IDE modern and avant-garde. Based on the code of Visual Studio which provides a familiar environment that is best used for up-to-date developers and designers. The IDE. It works on Windows, Ubuntu, CentOS and macOS. It offers full Linux support (including reference bootloader, kernel and filesystem) and is compatible with the software gem5. Unlocking simulation environments for increased power and energy efficiency testing y.

The IMG RTXM-2200 CPU is part of Imagination’s heterogeneous processing solution, offering hardware, software and full support for the debug per Imagination IP. It complements its market-leading GPU, AI accelerator and Ethernet Packet Processor (EPP) cores.
