Indra: Budapest airport will be managed remotely

L’Budapest airport will become a European capital to be operated remotely: Indra has implemented a remote tower solution. The Ferenc Liszt of Budapest will operate 365 days a year even remotely.

In October 2021 Indra is awarded by the air navigation service provider HungaroControl the contract for the Budapest airport. It therefore ensured the supply of a fully integrated tower system. There are displays for viewing air and airport traffic. A system of flight plans, including labels and lists. All keeping the extended security and advanced routing that we expect at an airport. But it will all be managed via cameras and digital remote tower systems.

The project is proceeding with the right momentum. And Indra is about to start installing the system in its final location. There will be a control post of the tower integrated with the rest of the systems and with touch functionality.

The tower system InNOVA it is already used by the remote tower Avinor in Norway. It allows you to have all relevant information and air traffic control and safety features at a glance. All in one screen.

The optical solution IRTOS provides 4K quality displays, 360 degree continuity of vision (with Indra’s proprietary software) and advanced features. In fact, there is no lack of color night vision and levels of augmented reality in the display. For example, aircraft tagging, information on the screen or automatic detection of objects in the scene.

Indra will also provide a remote emergency tower with a simulator and training system. This is to facilitate the operational transition to the new one remote tower solution in Budapest, which will take place in the course of 2024.
