the first reviews of notebooks with “Alder Lake” 12th generation Intel Core processors they are arriving. The tests carried out on the first laptops equipped with the new Intel processors confirm what had already been anticipated at the presentation stage. THE new Intel Alder Lake and, in particular, the Core i9-12900HK beat the M1 Max processor Apple but recording a much higher consumption.
He magazine PC World made a first review of one of the new notebooks with Intel Alder Lake (Core i9-12900HK). The review does not include a direct comparison with the Apple M1 Max. This comparison was instead made by the specialized magazine Mac World taking as reported the data that emerged from the PC World review for the Intel processor. The tests performed confirm an advantage of the Intel processor over the Apple solution of 3.5% in Single Core and 5% in Multi Core with GeekBench 5.
In other benchmarks, moreover, Intel’s processor manages to be a step ahead of its Apple competitor. Things change by analyzing energy consumption. The Intel AlderLake processor records a steady 100W draw with peaks of 140W while the M1 Max stops at around 40W. It is clear that we are facing a preliminary test. For a real comparison between the two platforms it will be necessary to wait for more detailed reviews and tests in real use contexts.
