Intel Raptor Lake: DDR5 memory increases its performance

DDR5 memory increases the performance of Intel Raptor Lake up to 20% compared to DDR4, let’s find out together in this article

As we get closer to the launch of the next desktop processors Raptor Lake Intel, there is more and more news of tests performed by system integrators and third parties who have early access to the chips engineering sample (ES). A few days ago, we saw one CPU Intel Core i7-13700K run the benchmark Geekbench 5 with the old memory DDR4 are ASRock Z690 Steel Legend WiFi 6E.

Today we see a similar test performed on the same processor, with theASRock Z690 Steel Legend WiFi 6E/D5 equipped with memory DDR5. While the previous DDR4 test used modules that worked at 3200 MT/sthe DDR5 test uses DRAM da 5200 MT/s with unknown timings and settings.

An immediate performance increase of 20%

As for performance, the result single-core processor Intel Core i7-13700K a 16 core was of 2090 points with DDR4while DDR5 showed a slight regression of 2069 points. Of course, this could be attributed to the margin of error. As for performance multi-corethe test with DDR4 managed to produce 16542 pointswhile the platform equipped with DDR5 got 19811 points.

This is an immediate performance boost of the 20% in multi-core scoring. This shows that all the cores present in the processors Raptor Lake they are hungry for bandwidth, and a faster memory protocol can make a big improvement.
