Intel Rocket Lake: 11th gen specs and price leaked

Missing a few hours before the official arrival on the market of the new Intel Rocket Lake CPUs, but we already have information on the specifications and price of the 11th generation of processors from the Santa Clara house. Let’s see the details

For several weeks there has been a lot of talk about the 11th generation Intel Rocket Lake CPUs. The new generation of CPUs will likely be the last built at 14nm before moving on to the 10nm manufacturing process of the Alder Lake architecture which is expected to be unveiled in the fall. Although Intel Rocket Lake proposes the trite 14 nm introduced in 2015 with the Skylake architecture, the first leaked benchmarks indicate even 20% better performance than the current generation, especially in single core. This should be due to the new Cypress Cove architecture, borrowed from Tiger Lake notebook processors, which improves the IPC and also allows a slight boost in clock rates. But thanks to Videocardz colleagues we can today preview what seem to be the slides of the official presentation of the new 11th generation Intel Rocket Lake processors, complete with prices and specifications. Let’s see the details.

Intel Rocket Lake: 11th generation “unofficial” specifications and price

Let’s start with the flagship SKU Core i9-11900K which, as anticipated, will have “only” 8 physical cores (compared to the 10 cores of the current 10th generation top of the range) that can operate up to 5.3 GHz thanks to Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB) on a single core and of 4.7 GHz on all cores, while the Base Clock is 3.5 GHz. The recommended price will be $ 539, an increase of $ 51 per CPU over the Core i9-10900K. The variant without integrated GPU will cost slightly less than $ 513. There is also a version with a TDP limited to 65 W, instead of 125 W, which will be priced at $ 449, but with lower frequencies, especially as regards the Base Clock set at 2.5 GHz. The Intel Rocket Lake line up continues with the Core i7-11700K, which is also based on an 8-core processor, but lacks Thermal Velocity Boost and therefore we will have maximum frequencies of about 300 MHz lower. The boost on all cores reaches 4.6 GHz. It will retail for $ 399, an increase of $ 25 over its predecessor. There variante KF without iGPU it will cost $ 374. Finally, $ 298 will be charged for the Core 11700F, the 65W version without iGPU and 323 for the core i7 11700.

We continue with the mid-range, talking about the 6-core CPUs based on Intel Rocket Lake, or the Core i5 series. The flagship 6-core CPU lives up to the name of i5-11600K and will cost $ 262, which is the same price as 10600K at launch. The cheapest CPU Core i5-11400F 6-core will cost $ 182. Surely these models are the most interesting from the point of view of value for money because they offer significantly higher performance than their predecessors (at least according to rumors), without raising the price. The counterpart AMD Ryzen 5 5600 X it costs around 315 euros, so around 50 euros more! All Intel Rocket Lake CPUs will support hyperthreading and DDR4-3200 memory and offer up to 44 PCIe lanes, with support for PCIe 4.0.

Not only 11th gen

As you can see, low-end models of the Core i3 and Pentium series do not seem to be expected. This is because it appears that Intel intends to introduce a 10th generation refresh in this range therefore CPUs based on the old Comet Lake-S architecture. The new Core i3 and Pentium series will be identified by a “5” at the end of the acronym. THE Core i3 they will have 4 cores and 8 threads with frequencies up to 4.7 GHz and TDP up to 65 W. The prices are very affordable because they start from 97 dollars, up to 154 dollars for the top of the range. THE Pentium instead they will only have 2 cores and 4 threads and will not have access to boost clock technologies. Prices are obviously very affordable and start at $ 64.

Certainly in the mid and low range Intel Rocket Lake has many interesting proposals. While on the high end we have some doubts because the value for money may not justify the purchase, but certainly the 10th generation CPUs could drop the price!
