Samsung Display is developing new camera technology that Apple would plan to use to hide the function of Face ID below the display, at least as far as the “iPhone 15 Pro” models are concerned. This is according to a rumor released by The Elec magazine, which talked about the matter in detail.
Rumors have already largely suggested that this year’s “iPhone 14 Pro” models will feature both a “hole” and a pill-shaped cutout for the front camera. Today, a new rumor has emerged that would like Apple to work on the iPhone 15 Pro models, in order to hide the Face ID component under the display.
Samsung’s technology would effectively make the Face ID sensors invisible to the naked eye, just like the camera hidden under the display of the Galaxy Z Fold3 smartphones. In this device, the pixel density on the camera is lower than on the rest of the display in such a way as to allow light to reach the camera, even if this affects the quality of the photos themselves.
It therefore remains to be seen whether this solution is also applicable to the Face ID function, while maintaining a level of efficiency similar to that seen in the design with the famous notch. However, it is not the first time that we come across rumors regarding Apple’s desire to “hide” Face ID, so it is very likely that the Apple company is actually working on something like this.
