After the problems registered over the last few months, Apple intends to reduce its dependence on China for the production of its iPhones. To achieve this goal, the company will move part of the production to India. The project is already at an advanced stage. Foxconn, Apple’s main manufacturing partner, is preparing a huge investment for a new plant in India.
As confirmed in these hours, iPhone production will gradually move away from China to India thanks to the new project of Foxconn. The company, Apple’s main partner, will invest 700 million dollars to build a new factory in India to devote to the production of iPhone.
This plant will play a central role for the future of Apple which aims to become increasingly independent from production in China. According to initial estimates, the new plant will lead to the creation of more 100,000 jobs. According to Bloomberg estimatesthe new project could bring up to 10-15% the production share of iPhones assembled in India, starting from a current threshold of 5%.
We’ll see what the company’s choices will be in this regard for the future. In any case, it is increasingly likely that Apple intends to support Foxconn’s project, in order to minimize the risk of new production stops for its iPhones.
