Konami will not participate in E3 2021: here are the reasons

Through a tweet on the official channels, Konami stated that it will not be present at the E3 2021 conference, also revealing the logistical reasons

Among the many conferences that had to adapt to the times of the Coronavirus pandemic there is also, of course, the highly anticipated E3 2021 which, after so many rumors, this year will be held in a completely digital form and without bystanders. A novelty for one of the most anticipated event in the videogame industry, if not perhaps the most important, but which still wants to be a way to renew itself and offer in any case a noteworthy show. Many companies have already confirmed their presence on the virtual stage, some, like Sony, have instead denied it (although the company is likely to hold a separate event around the same time). In the past few hours, another refusal from a large company has also arrived: let’s talk about Konami.

Through a tweet on the official channels, in fact, Konami said that due to logistical difficulties related to timing, it will not be present at the next edition of E3. However, the company stated that it is working on many key and important projects, of which we will have news and updates in the coming months. Rumors have been circulating for some time for a remake of Metal Gear Solid, or for a new Silent Hill. Who knows. We leave you the tweet right below.

Konami will not be present at E3 2021: ESA responds

ESA, Entertainment Software Association, the body that organizes E3, stated in an official statement:

We support our partner Konami’s decision not to participate in this year’s E3, and are really curious to find out what they will announce in the future when they are ready. We look forward to being able to reunite in E3 2022, but in the meantime, we are working to share with you all the most anticipated and important announcements, schedules and more at E3 this year.

We are really curious to find out which major projects Konami is referring to in the tweet, considering that aside from PES it hasn’t released much in recent years. Since the release, in 2018, of Metal Gear Survive, in fact, the company has focused on collections of old games such as Castlevania and Contra, and little else.
