LG is now certified to test the functional safety of software for the automotive world

The Software Testing Center at LG was officially recognized as ISO 26262 certified laboratory to conduct functional safety tests on software designed for i self-driving vehicles. As South Korea’s first facility certified to test such software, results released by LG’s Software Testing Center will have international credibility in over 70 countries and regions, including the United States, Europe and Japan.

ISO 26262 is the international standard for functional safety of electrical and electronic systems present in road vehicles. The standard is defined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). One of the ISO 26262 measurements determines the likelihood of accidents caused by software errors or in development processes. This is a critical factor in the commercialization of self-driving vehicles. The recognition was issued by Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS), an internationally recognized agency. LG’s Software Testing Center was previously recognized by KOLAS as an internationally accredited testing institute for software quality measurement (ISO / IEC 25023); and for industrial functional safety of electronic products and technologies (IED 61508-3), including smart appliances, TVs, robots, artificial intelligence, cloud and energy.
