LoL: Riot Games svela date e location dell’MSI 2022

In the past few hours, Riot Games has officially announced the dates and location of LoL’s MSI 2022: let’s find out all the details together in this dedicated article

Riot Games has officially announced the location and dates of the new League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2022. The tournament will be held in South Korea, in Busan to be exact. The news actually comes from Italian soil, from the Italian division of the company, which by mistake forgot to mention the fact that it was under embargo. MSI 2022 will therefore be held in the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (commonly known as BEXCO). At the moment, as far as is known, the event will be open to fans thus officially making it the first tournament with a live audience since the 2020 World Championship Finals in Shanghai, China.

Riot Games will stick to the same formula used for last year’s MSI. Teams that have qualified will be split into two groups of four teams and one group of three teams. Currently, only the LCL will not send a representation as they have paused their competitions due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The tournament will be held from 10 to 29 May next and the first phase will end on 15 May. In these first few days, teams will play a double round against each other within the same group and presumably those made up of three teams will compete more times, just like last year.

All the details of LoL’s MSI 2022: dates, locations and first sections of the regulation

The two teams from each group with the most points will advance to the next stage, which starts on May 18th and ends on May 22nd. The six teams will then play a double round again and advance to the semi-finals to be held on 27 May. The final will conclude the tournament on May 29th. In the announcement that it was to be embargoed, Global Head of League of Legends eSports Naz Aletaha commented:

South Korea has been a trailblazer for the esports industry for decades. We are thrilled to be able to honor this nation’s heritage in esports, to celebrate the passion of Korean fans, and to bring all the talent of MSI pro teams to Korea for the first time. Busan was an incredible setting for the 2014 and 2018 Championships, and we can’t wait to return to witness the challenges that the best League of Legends teams in the world will offer us.
