A component analysis of iPhone 13 Pro reveals that the production cost of the new smartphone from Apple exceeds that of the iPhone 12 Pro. The fault lies with the rise in prices due to the lack of chips, but not only. Some of the smartphone’s essential components raise the overall cost of Cupertino’s new product.
TechInsights technicians have taken apart the new iPhone 13 Pro to evaluate all the components of the smartphone. This allowed them to assess the market price of the phone’s production. Which is greater than last year. The first culprit is the fact that silicon continues to be scarce: i chip they are in short supply, so they cost more. But also the memory NAND raise the price, in addition to the new one display technology.
TechInsights engineers explain that they have “estimated that the sub-6 GHz iPhone 13 Pro A2636 has a higher build cost than last year’s iPhone 12 Pro A2341 mmWave model. The increased cost is due to a higher estimated cost for the A15 processor, NAND memory, display subsystem, and a general increase in assembly, which impacted the total “non-electronic” cost. We also compared the new iPhone 13 Pro with the sub-6 GHz competitor Samsung Galaxy S21 + 5G ”.
The result of these tests in monetary terms? The new iPhone 13 Pro costs $ 570, while last year the Apple smartphone cost only $ 548.50. The smartphone Samsung costs 508 dollars insteadi (all prices are for 256GB models).
To make a comparison with the selling price, in the United States the smartphone costs $ 1,099. Almost double therefore, even if you have to include the Research and it development of the model, to which the marketing expenses must also be added.
