Meta and Italian television networks: agreement against online piracy signed

Meta and Italian Television Networks (RTI) have entered into a agreement which provides for the decision of fight online piracy. This agreement will allow for the implementation of a number of acts that will protect RTI’s copyrighted content, including live broadcasts.

The partnership between Meta and Reti Televisive Italiane (RTI) was sanctioned by an agreement to combat online piracy and represents an important step towards awareness of the importance of product created and distributed online.

“In addition, Meta will provide RTI with dedicated training and support in order to most effectively use tools such as Meta’s Rights Manager, a content management system that enables rights holders of all sizes to authorize, manage and protect their content (video, audio and images) online”. The agreement with Meta demonstrates that, if the platforms work together to prevent piracy, it is possible to find solutions that herald growth and value creation for the entire supply chain. While we continue the judicial fight where intellectual property rights continue to be violated, we hope that the European Commission will find useful tools to curb the piracy of live content or content of equivalent economic value. We are confident of continuing the effective collaboration with Meta on this too”.

He also spoke about it Luca Colombo, Italy Country Director of Metastating that copyright protection is a concern of the company and that it can only be implemented by joining forces of all the tech companies in the sector.
