Metroid Dread: The series will continue, according to Sakamoto

Metroid Dread will not be the last chapter of the series, Sakamoto’s confirmation arrives. Let’s find out all the details in this news

Unexpectedly announced in early summer, Metroid Dread hit shelves around the world on October 8th. Today, exactly one month after its release, the title has already received excellent sales results, and a free playable demo of the same has recently been made available. But Metroid Dread is also an important chapter for the series, as, as stated by producer Yoshio Sakamoto, it serves as the conclusion of the narrative arc that began on the NES back in 1986 with the very first chapter.

Sakamoto confirms: Metroid Dread will not be the last episode of the series

Metroid Dread is certainly the episode of the series with the most troubled origins, as it seems to have been conceived almost twenty years ago by Sakamoto, as a direct sequel to Metroid Fusion (released on Game Boy Advance back in 2002). The project was then abandoned due to technical limitations and only recently taken up again. In light of this, it is easy to imagine how much hype the announcement of this title at Nintendo Direct released last June on the occasion of E3, even more after the declaration that it would be the final episode of the storyline.

Metroid Dread: The series will continue, according to Sakamoto

Yoshio Sakamoto, however, wanted to reassure fans in recent days that Dread will not be the last chapter of the series, and indeed that his intentions are to do his utmost to keep the character of Samus Aran alive. We do not yet know what Nintendo’s plans are for the sagna, but it therefore seems certain that in the future we will see other episodes in 2D. In the meantime, however, we hope to discover new info also on the mysterious Metroid Prime 4.
