Netflix Gaming has added another development studio to its ranks: the company announced it has acquired Boss Fight Entertainment, a Texas-based mobile development studio. It’s the third game studio Netflix has bought after developer Oxenfree Night School and Next Games, the team behind a Stranger Things puzzle game.
The games developed by Boss Fight include a much loved mobile strategy game called Dungeon Boss. The studio was founded following the closure of Zynga’s Dallas studio, which developed the Facebook game CastleVille.
The news is in line with Netflix’s current strategy, which sees the company committed to expanding into the mobile gaming sector. In addition to acquiring established studies, Netflix has also included mobile games as part of its subscription package, three new games were announced on the platform just this week.
The company is also experimenting with interactive series, including an upcoming quiz game called Trivia Quest. As for Boss Fight, Netflix’s vice president of gaming, Amir Rahimi, stated that “this studio’s vast experience in creating successful games of all genres will help us accelerate our ability to provide Netflix subscribers with great games wherever they want to play them.”
