New design for WhatsApp’s in-app camera

WhatsApp releases a new beta, which features a new design for the in-app camera. Now the contextual buttons are placed in a different way, leaving a more immediate access to the gallery of photographs already taken. A change that aims to improve the usability of the internal cameramessaging app.

New design for WhatsApp’s in-app camera

The beta number 2.22.1.2 for Android change WhatsApp in-app camera design. A feature widely used by users, to send selfies and contextual shots of what they are chatting about. No need to exit the app and access the camera app on your smartphone.

The latest update (2.22.1.1) had introduced the ability to delete messages in groups for administrators, in order to better manage chats with many users. Beta 2.22.1.2 instead introduces a valid change on any chat, both group and private. You can see the new arrangement of the camera contextual keys inapp in this screenshot from WABetaInfo.com.

Compared to the current view, the flash rises to the top together with the ‘X’ to cancel the photograph. At the bottom left comes the button to access the galleryinstead of the preview with images above the snap button. Furthermore, the button to switch between selfie camera and main camera is no longer transparent but bordered by a circle.

It therefore seems that WhatsApp’s in-app camera gives up a bit of style but makes the screen cleaner and more immediate. A change of design that focuses on substance and simplicity. As before, to activate the camera just press and hold, while a single touch will take a photo.

At the moment there is no useful information to understand when this design change arrives on the official and stable version of the app. Those who have the beta version can already test it, while those who use the stable version of the app may have to wait a long time: the company will announce the news, as usual, through a story when it will be available for everyone. We will keep you updated on many other interesting WhatsApp news, and more.
